WEEKEND INTENSIVE TRAINING PROGRAM

JUNE 3RD - OCTOBER 18TH | PROVIDENCE RI

Original Hot Yoga Association Approved Teacher Training

Are you passionate about your hot yoga practice and ready to take a deep dive into the postures? Are you interested in seeing the view from the podium and helping others on their hot yoga journey? Take the next step on your journey and enroll in our Original Hot Yoga Teacher Training program! Whether you're looking for a new career path, a meaningful part time gig, or deeper knowledge of hot yoga, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

In our training, you will learn how to teach the Original Hot Yoga series of 26 postures & 2 breathing exercises (also known as Bikram Yoga.) Upon graduation, you will be registered with the Original Hot Yoga Association, the largest network of Original Hot Yoga studios and teachers around the world.

** Please note that this is NOT a vinyasa flow or power yoga style training - if you are looking for that type of course, we can give you great recommendations!

This course is intended for students who have a serious interest in hot yoga and have a strong desire to teach. We recommend that teacher training students have practiced consistently for at least 2 years. (Applicants should have a minimum of 6 months experience to apply.) Our training topics include: Yoga Anatomy, Philosophy of Yoga, Hot Yoga Benefits, Injuries & Contraindications, Modern Yoga History, Professional Development, and Diversity & Inclusivity. We will also be breaking down each posture in detail and taking a deep dive into the 26 & 2 hot yoga series, with posture clinics and teaching skills.

This is a vocational program that includes a LOT of active practice so that you will be confident teaching right away.  Many of our program graduates from 2022 - present are now teaching hot yoga in the wild!

Diversity & Equity Scholarship

We are continuing our commitment to Diversity & Equity by offering two 50% Scholarships for our 2026 program! We encourage BIPOC and LGBTQ+ community members to apply to our program.

Our teacher training students have joined us from all around the New England area - in addition to Rhode Island, we have program graduates teaching classes in Massachusetts, Vermont, and Connecticut. We purposely designed our training format to be accessible to commuters as well as our local students.

The most common question that trainees ask me is, "Will I be able to get a job after graduation?" Although enrollment in training can never guarantee employment, we are intentional about running our teacher training courses when we have openings in our schedule so that our graduates have opportunities for job placement right here in Rhode Island. Many other graduates have travelled further and become an asset to their home studios.

2026 TRAINING SCHEDULE

Trainees will meet in person for monthly weekend intensive modules (Friday - Sunday) from June through October. These sessions will focus heavily on yoga practice, posture clinic, and teaching practice. We will also meet virtually (via Zoom) every Wednesday night from roughly 5:30 - 8:30pm throughout the duration of the course, and we will have a series of group study sessions (via zoom) on Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:30pm. Please see below for exact dates.

Trainees must maintain a regular practice schedule of two to three 90 minute classes / week throughout the duration of the training. Some of these classes will be included during our weekend intensives. The additional class hours may be completed at Rhode Island Hot Yoga, at another studio offering Original Hot Yoga classes, or remotely via Zoom (if necessary.) A minimum of 52 classes, completed during the course of the training, will be required for graduation.

All in-person and virtual hours must be completed in order to graduate from this course. Please review the course requirement and policies below for more information on graduation requirement and make-up policies.

Juliana is the owner and founder of Rhode Island Hot Yoga. She has been practicing the Original Hot Yoga since 2004 and has taught hot yoga full time (alongside eventually running two studios) since 2010. She also holds two engineering degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Stephanie began practicing Original Hot Yoga in 2011 and completed Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in 2012, beginning her teaching journey soon after. She is now a Level 3 Original Hot Yoga teacher and recently completed a 200-hour Ghosh Yoga training, deepening her understanding of the postures, teaching, the yoga lineage, and creating a supportive, effective environment for students. Committed to ongoing growth, she has continued her education through workshops and trainings for other fitness modalities.

Stephanie serves as an assistant trainer in Original Hot Yoga teacher training and is passionate about mentoring new teachers, helping them develop confidence and clarity in their teaching. Outside the studio, she works as a library director and enjoys reading, playing the banjo, and spending time with her daughter.

TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR GRADUATES

SAMANTHA ELLIS

Graduated 2022

"This experience was more than I could have imagined.

"The entire training was well-programmed and full of a tremendous wealth of knowledge that I use now during my teaching. I walked away feeling extremely confident in the dialogue, the postures, and even more so in myself.

"Teacher training changed my life and my practice and it makes me happy every day I'm in the hot room up on that podium delivering those 90 minutes to students new and old."

GED CARBONE

Graduated 2022

"Juliana and Steph let serendipitous events flow, eroding any sense of learning by rote and replacing it with a creative classroom where we felt free to explore, laugh, cry, push our limits, and develop genuine friendships.

"By the fifth month, I had developed a deeper insight into the yoga, which was not surprising given that a deeper understanding had been one of my goals.

"What did surprise me was that the yoga training gave me a deeper insight into myself, and the tools to make me a better, less judgmental person."

JULIE MCDERMOTT

Graduated 2022

"I not only learned more about hot yoga, but I also met great people who share the same passion.

"I can't say enough good things about the conversations, the learning, and our instructors' knowledge and delivery.

"This is a commitment but very doable; I have a full-time job, and the time flies! I came out of teacher training prepared and confident to teach, and I love it! My only regret is that I did not do the training sooner."
